Three potential 2024 NFL Draft targets for the Steelers

If the season were to end today, the Steelers (7-5) would have the No. 23 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Here are three players Pittsburgh could consider drafting come April.

QB Jayden Daniels, LSU

The Steelers must consider moving on from QB Kenny Pickett, who continues to miss wide-open targets and has 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 25 games. Daniels, a Heisman finalist who has 4,946 total yards and 50 total touchdowns, certainly brings a much higher upside at the position.

The LSU product is one of several options in a talented quarterback draft class, which is why it's the perfect time to move on from Pickett. It's probably unlikely that the team will but that would be a mistake if Pro Football Focus' No. 22 overall prospect is still available when they pick.

Right tackle Amarius Mims, Georgia

Pittsburgh drafted an offensive tackle from Georgia in the first round of last year's draft in Broderick Jones and that has worked out pretty well. So why not double dip? By adding Mims to the offensive line, the Steelers can move Jones back to his primary position of left tackle and finally move on from incumbent Dan Moore Jr., who has allowed five sacks this season.

The massive 6-foot-7, 340-pound offensive tackle will only help Pittsburgh get back to dominating the trenches and playing bully ball. Mims, PFF's No. 26 overall prospect, would be a plug-and-play from day one, just like Jones should have been this year.

CB Kalen King, Penn State

Similar to the Steelers' success drafting CB Joey Porter Jr. from Penn State a year ago, they should consider drafting his former teammate as well. Veteran cornerbacks Patrick Peterson and Levi Wallace have continued to struggle all season, so Pittsburgh could move on from both this offseason with the addition of King.

The Penn State product has 80 tackles, two forced fumbles, three interceptions and 22 passes defensed from 2021-23. King is currently ranked as PFF's No. 31 overall prospect and could create one of the best cornerback duos in the league with Porter Jr. for many years to come.
