AC Milan are working on the signing of Joshua Zirkzee and hope to be able to put forward a package that convinces everyone involved, a report claims.

We reported yesterday in our Substack update and today on our site that Milan are in negotiations across multiple faults regarding Zirkzee. They are speaking to the player himself, his entourage and have also opened talks with Bayern Munich.

Now, MilanNews are reporting that Milan ‘have been working for Zirkzee for months’ and have done so knowing full well the contractual conditions and price of the Dutch striker. The €40m clause in his contract is valid for everyone, not just Bayern Munich.

The management believe that Zirkzee is the right striker to take on the legacy of Olivier Giroud who is heading for Los Angeles FC soon, albeit with different technical characteristics compared to the Frenchman.

Milan chose Zirkzee months ago and have been working on the deal in between then and now, but they know the competition is strong and that they will have to put forward an attractive package to win the race.

There is the intention to use Alexis Saelemaekers in the deal as partial economic compensation to lower the cash required, given that Bologna have an option to buy him for €12m, and they will also try to include Lorenzo Colombo.
